Alper Derinboğaz is an architect who lives and practices architecture in Istanbul. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University (2005). He worked as a senior architect in Los Angeles and won prizes in competitions including UIA Celebrating Cities. He founded Salon in 2009 as an architecture practice in İstanbul.

Chitra Vishwanath is an Indian architect based in Bengaluru who works on themes related to ecology and architecture. She has been running her own architectural firm since 1991, working with other architects on many projects in India and Africa. She is now the Principal Architect and Managing Director of BIOME Environment Solutions Private Limited, which has 30 employees. She has been involved in more than 500 projects encompassing construction of buildings of all sizes and water harvesting and sanitation structures with specific relevance to the ecology of the sites. With mud as a basic material input in construction she has designed and built many structures.

Tobias Wallisser is Professor of Innovative Construction and Spatial Concepts and Vice-President at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. As Associate Architect at UN-Studio in Amsterdam for 10 years he was responsible for many projects including the Mercedes-Benz Museum, Germany. In 1997 he received a post-graduate degree from Columbia University (NY). He worked for Asymptote Architecture on the Virtual New York Stock Exchange in 1997 and for German firm KTP on an award-winning low-energy office project in Germany. He lectures at universities throughout Europe and has won many awards.

Graduated in architecture in 1969 from School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi. He spent two years studying pre-fabricated housing in Denmark. From 1973 to 1989 he was full-time faculty of architecture at School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi. In 1984 he completed his work for Ph.D. at the Center for Energy Studies, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Among the special findings were the use of texture on buildings and the fragmentation of form to achieve cooling in the desert city of Jaisalmer.
He initiated the teaching of passive solar architecture and energy conservation in buildings at the School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi and continues to be a visiting professor there. Vinod Gupta is advisor to the Delhi Urban Arts Commission, member of the Board of Studies and the Committee on Doctoral Programmes at SPA, member of the Technical Advisory Committee for GRIHA, the national green building rating system for India.

(Environment Architecture Research Technology Housing). Graduate of CEPT university, Ahmedabad he has availed Master of Architecture degree from McGill University, Montreal.
Yatin has been involved with city planning, urban design, mass housing, architecture, interior design, product design as well as conservation projects. He has written over two hundred articles in National and International Journals. Several books authored by him on architecture, especially 'Concepts of space in traditional Indian architecture', and 'Elements of space making' have been published internationally.

  • Entries are invited from all the nation.
  • The projects submitted are considered by the author that submits the entry for the Award. Every violation of copyright will be punished with immediate disqualification.

  • The works reached out of time will be excluded.
  • It is absolutely prohibited the participation to the awards of a Jury member, a relative or a person or body connected professionally to the jury.
  • Jurors will only assess the ‘qualifying submissions’. A ‘qualifying submission’ should meet the following criteria :
    (i) It should be free from any identifying information to ensure anonymity and impartial judging.

(ii) It should emerge from Entrants who are eligible.

(iii) It should be in strict adherence with all ‘competition guide lines’.

  • A submission shall be advanced to the judging round ONLY if the submission strictly follows all the imperatives of the’Delhi Architecture Festival Awards’ Rules.
  • Non-compliant submissions shall be disqualified.
  • The Promoters are under no obligation to notify the Entrant of a submission’s disqualification.
  • Jurors will base their judgement and selection on their own expertise, the work submitted by the Entrants.
  • Qualifying submissions shall be advanced to a panel of jurors convened for the awarding of the winners and honorable mentions.
  • Submissions may contain any or all of the following, i.e. text, diagrams, plans, sections, sketches, photographs, graphics, collage etc, in a combination without restrictions that can convey the visual summary of the design intent of the entrant comprehensively illustrating the :
    (i) Response to challenges outlined in the Brief.

(ii) The emergence of unified and relevant image of Design

  • Submission must contain Design Brief (not more than 500 words) in .doc file.
  • Max. of 6, A3 size sheets (420mm X 297mm), in horizontal format and submitted as digital, coloured, high-resolution files, meant for printing in JPEG format needs to be upload at Re-thinking The Future Website prior to the submission deadline.
  • Each submission must contain the ’Registration ID’ provided by the DAF at the time of registration, this ID must be written in bold Arial font, 5 mm in height on the top right corner of each submission entry.
  • Submission must be free from any kinds of identifying marks, such as and including firm logos, name of participant.
  • The submissions will ONLY bear the Registration ID, given to an entrant after their successful registration, as a means of identification and any other identifying mark will make the entrant liable for disqualification.
